by mike on Mar.24, 2010, under Amazed, Sponsors

Hello All,

Yuri’s Night is almost here and there is a lot brewing just around the corner!  Our plan is to have the details of the Celebration finalized over this weekend so keep your eye’s alert for Ticket and Event information early next week, while keeping your April 10th evening open and ready for Yuri’s Night Houston 2010!

And while we have your attention we would like take a moment to thank this year’s major sponsors that are making it possible for AIAA Houston Section to host this great event. The dedication of our sponsors to sharing Space Exploration is exceptional and for that we thank them.

Please join us in giving Thanks to Jacobs Technology, The Boeing Co., and ERC!!

While your anticipation builds for the final details on the Celebration, don’t forget about Space Day @ Discovery Green and these two events as well:

1.)“The Future of Space” Art Contest has less than a week left!

2.) There are over 100 people signed up for the Yuri’s 5k, are you?

Alright, we’ll be back soon! Until then keep dreaming, exploring, and getting ready to celebrate with Yuri’s Night Houston 2010!!

Jacobs Zero-G Raffle!

by mike on Mar.25, 2009, under General, Sponsors

So for the third year in a row Jacobs Technology has stepped up to sponsor a Raffle for a Zero-G flight hosted by AIAA Houston Section! And this year you get a raffle ticket just for showing up to the celebration! So go ahead and get that ticket for the celebration now and save yourself some cash at the door.

(Ok, I’ll get it now)

If you haven’t had the chance to experience weightlessness  I definately suggest you try it. I had the opportunity to go back in the Summer of 2006 and that was an AMAZING trip! I was lucky enough to be on a Science Flight out of Cape Canaveral! Talk about a Rocket Scientists Heaven, Kennedy Space Center and I get to experience Zero-G?!?!?! Awesome!

Now, I don’t want to spoil the surprise of what the experience of Zero-G is like, but I will say that, at least for me, it felt as if a weight had been lifted! ;-)

See you soon!

-Mike

(Just FYI, You must be present at the Celebration to Win the Raffle! Raffle tickets will be handed out at the event.)

With only 10 Days left the Yuri’s Night Crew is working hard to put the final touches on the days events!

The day will start with a Charity Fun Run in the morning out at Challenger Park benefiting the Challenger Center for Space Science Education. At 7:45am there will be a kids race and then at 8:00am there will be a 5k fun run around the park. Come on out for some spring air! (Sign Up Here! Scroll to the bottom of the page)

After the run, take it easy and recoup throughout the day in order to attend the Celebration at the Meridian in the evening! Doors open a 8pm, but with no time to waste the evenings activities will be starting at 8:30!  With the Rockit Scientists, a DJ, 2 kinds of Special performers, door prizes, space exhibits, and a chance to experience weightlessness! it is going to be one heck of a Celebration!

We invite you to come celebrate 48 years of Human Spaceflight with us!

-The Yuri’s Night Houston Team
